My name is Joel Dombek and I am a Graphic Designer & Web Developer based in Pittsburgh. This is my personal portfolio site. Within this site I have my work from various mediums and styles over the course of my career in Print, Web, and Fine art. Give it a look and if you could provide any feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently working with several clients on branding & corporate identity, web interface design, content management, and marketing. Description: Conceptual representation for a web start–up. The logotype focuses on minimalism while having a clean and high end feel. Its message is create a tone of prosperity and forward thinking that would encompass the companies style of bleeding edge designs. It has a combination of progressive type design and eye catching visualization of the initial letter.

Description: This is my personal branding logotype. I've personally designed this with the focus on clean, minimal, and easily printable graphics. The color version has a gritty "downloaded" RGB effect that captures true black. The letter form is the representation of both the letters "J" & "D" and uses the rule of thirds. It also represents a bar chart on increasing growth which I feel captures what I try to achieve everyday in design and life.

Description: The logotype created for Dan Lexie has the elements of clean design and also points to the mediums in which he works. Creating shape paradox as well as an identifiable initial letterform. The logo has been used in his demo reel, resume, personal website, business card, and several other physical and digital forms.

Logo name: Morning Hockey League

Description: Designed for local Pittsburgh hockey league for use on their website and personal apparel. The initial design was made with embroidery and screen printing in mind. The design is reminiscent of other Pittsburgh sports using black and gold color scheme and rounded inverted triangle is similar to the Penguins logo.

Description: A re-imagining of the current logo with an emphasis on simplicity and also modernizing and updating. With a more angular approach it feels more modern and up to date with some of the other game studios. It also captures some of the previous feel while feeling fresh and new.

Description: A clean and modern logotype for a web start-up. Drawing inspiration from sites such as Digg, Delicious, and FFFFound it shows a colorful and clean design for the coming web innovation while also drawing attention to itself.

Description: Designed for a non-profit organization focusing on helping people on a large scale in third world countries. The design is nondenominational and multifaceted. Combining the look of a puzzle piece, globe, and Yin & Yang symbol into a unique logotype. The focus was to show professionalism, seriousness, and also have a modern feel.

Description: Redesigned logo for rebranded identity and promotional material. Designed to brand a local Pittsburgh tattoo parlor that showcases the tattoo and piercing services that uses a "Metal" typeface and needle and barbell.

Description: Identity created for new line of bath and body products. A lotus flower blooming that emphasizes the "all natural" aspect of the various items. The logotype intended to be printed on mail-order products and tags associated with the line.

Description: Designed for use within a blog offering "creative commons use" files such as music, wallpapers, and ringtones. Reminiscent of PDF, Word, and Quark file icons. The logo is simple, straight forward, and similar to file icons on various operating systems.

Description: Designed to brand a multifaceted company with different branches. The logo concentrates on itself being minimal hence the "MNML" shortened title. Designed to be simple and straight forward and printed on tags and used on the website.

Description: Designed with reversed type out of lines converging. The logo has a monochromatic scheme with all capital letters and curved stroked lines that signify wires or information. It's look is trying to capture the "flow" or transition between two ends.

Description: Drawing inspiration from other computer hardware companies such as ASUS, Acer, AMD, Seagate, and Lynksys. The logo signifies the downloading of information and being green as far as being powered on. Using a custom typeface fading to green.

Description: Designed to give the comment, micro–blog, or forum a name. The name obviously just a shortened version of "Poster" and also somewhat resembling "Post-It" it also likens itself to the look of a Post-It note which is achieved through CSS3. The site needed to be able to reproduce the look of the logo through code and a minimal amount of images. The logo also tries to show that it can be adapted to multiple color schemes to diversify the people and what they have to say.

Description: Designed to show elegance and sophistication with a likenesses to high fashion brands. With his main foray being wedding photography the "P & P" create the feeling of "tying the knot" and union. The combination of Serif and Sans–Serif typefaces give it a modern nouveau and classic victorian feel.

Description: A re–imagining of their current logo with a more bold and eye catching letterform that feels like that of an Aztec temple or Hawaiian petroglyph. The stark black and white block with overlapping "M & T".

Description: Designed to coincide with the catalog design, the rebranding of UK clothing company Griffin is meant to breach the modern and clean design gap. An overall design sense and style was also conceptualized to pair the logo, style, and products into a single package.
